The Tote Battles - TV twins v Girl band star

Would you rather spend HK$ 23,380 on a bag, or would you prefer to spend HK$ 9,200?

Would you rather buy a bag designed by former twin child stars or by a former member of a British girl band?

Which bag do you like best??? And which one do you think sells for HK$23,380 on www.mytheresa.com?

Ines in white Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld pin

how excellent is this photo of Ines de la Fressange in full Chanel get-up - found it while browsing some random blogspot and made me wonder about copyright nowadays - I have no idea where the previous blogspot found this photo so I will consider this one sharing is caring

A tiny bit of Italy in Hong Kong

Burrata and tomatoes - and the most buttery bread imaginable - I feel a bit like I'm in Italy

But there's a whole lot of HK right there in the window

I need more Bellini

A very lovely evening with my mum and dad at my fave restaurant, Cipriani. I had the shrimp curry, which is a funny Italian version of curry - so deliciously hearty and salty you'll never want to eat the real thing again. In only a few days it's Christmas and only a few more days after that I will be going to far south Western Australia. Tis the season!

Last minute gift ideas

what I meant: last minute gift ideas for me - find this lovely Chloe bracelet HERE.
what I meant: David, buy this lovely Chloe bracelet HERE (for me)

Rockstud reinvented, yet again

It's uncharacteristically cold in Hong Kong, yet I am craving these gorgeous Valentino sandals
(have not been able to find them anywhere! are they out yet?)

There are a few things I hate about this place

But then there are also some things I truly love - like the Dafen art village in Shenzhen for instance, just across the Hong Kong border in China. I have been slightly obsessed with the style of Downton Abbey, the British television series. Not so much the story, but very much the houses, the art, the decorative objects. Every time the opening credits finish, the camera lingers over a close-up shot of a perfect vase of wilted roses in front of a perfect green wall, on a perfect sideboard. A mere two weeks ago I took a screen shot of this perfect still life and showed it to an artist in Dafen whose work I like, and today he sent me the beautiful painted result. I absolutely love it, and one day when I no longer live in Hong Kong I will think of how lucky I was to spend some time here during my life.

About resort wedges and Tabitha Simmons

I made a November resolution not to buy anymore more colorful fabric wedge sandals ever. I have some turquoise satin Lanvin ones lingering in the closet which literally got 3 wears. Then some yellow canvas Prada ones... all super cute but I haven't worn them much. Then I stopped in Lane Crawford yesterday, where I saw these Tabitha Simmons lovelies, and their stripy friends below...

I have had a total style crush on Tabitha for years, but have never owned any of her shoes. Maybe it's time to break some resolutions.

these may have to be mine very soon - resolutions be damned

Tabitha Simmons, a perfect vision for her designs

most beautiful evening shoes I have ever seen - note the blush bows around ankle - so so so pretty

Tabitha's style is just as adventurous as her shoes

Wondering whether I like Wang's bags for Balenciaga

It's a handsome tote for sure, but not exactly distinctive. It could be a Marc Jacobs, or a Céline, or a Furla just as easily. And Wang has chosen to identify the bag with a gold logo. The old crop of course never needed logos because they were so different from anything else on the market. I do like this bag, I just wouldn't spend Balenciaga money on it.

Santa I've not been naughty, only nice

I looove the tiny little Sheung Wan hardware stalls around Christmas time, when their usual displays of nails, wrenches, and lightbulbs turn into messy but enchanting pockets of Christmas everywhere you look. Such a lovely day today walking around town just before the rain started. But I am not complaining after 3 months of near perfect weather, although this rain is throwing a serious wrench in tomorrow's outdoor lunch plan. Mum and I felt like kids in a candy store during a quick stop into the Serapian shop at On Lan Street, where ex-colleague and friend Stephanie was in the middle of unpacking a new shipment.
Santa???

And to add insult to injury

I love big makeup as well. Why do people constantly repeat that if you do your eyes, you mustn't do your lips? Someone with credibility must have said that at one point, and since it has turned into one of those boring cliches, repeated ad nauseam.  It surely has got to be more fun to be a happy slapper than an uptight stickler? Just saying..

If you don't know what to wear for your next Christmas party

I think you should wear any old dress and go with really big hair. I have taken some inspiration this morning from young Claudia. Have I already said how much I miss over-the-top glam from fashion nowadays? Will I also be that woman who wears blue eyeshadow for the rest of her life? Is reminiscing about the olden days a sure sign of getting old??? Answers are likely yes to each. But never mind, get out your teasing combs, girls. Claudia will show you how it's done.

Christmas in Phillip Lim

With some time to kill in the afternoon I went to Lane Crawford's outlet in Ap Lei Chau, where I bought this silk dress from Phillip Lim's Fall 2012 runway. I had to buy a dress, because for Martine's Christmas party one makes a proper effort. The most stylish hostess in town, there was no way I was going to show up in something old (ha! of course my new Phillip Lim was already old, but you know what I'm saying). I am going to make a bold statement and say I styled the dress far better though...

After all, she serves her champagne in coupe glasses - and you can't hold a coupe glass in any old dress.

the hostess wore vintage navy Herve Leger

our matching Abel pumps - This Jimmy Choo style has such a nice line and a perfect heel height for a party. I wear them with dresses more than any other shoes, and I often think they are all you really need for evening. There's something mischievous in these, more so than in the equivalents at Louboutin or Blahnik. Although Tamara Mellon is no longer at Jimmy Choo, I will gladly keep buying the Abel.

The class of '92

If you love David Beckham as much as I do, then I hate you and you cannot be my friend then you should really go see this documentary about Manchester United. I don't care if you don't like football, it won't matter, trust me. I just watched the trailer and bawled my eyes out. I miss England, I miss the English, I even miss football. I think nostalgically of our days at Fulham Football Club, screaming nice ass, David!!! whenever David would bend over to place the ball in the corner near me. Okay yes, that happened only once every season when Man U would play Fulham at Craven Cottage, but that was some really nice booty. And now David is kissing that woman on the cover of December Paris Vogue. Get me more tissues, I am feeling beklemmt.

Watch the trailer HERE

You think you love fashion...

... but then morning comes around and you have to find something to wear YET AGAIN.

Fashion is relentless - every single morning it's in your face - what the H am I going to wear?  Not loving fashion so much right now sitting here with a hangover that originated at Quinary and ended at Gaia. So I am going for comfort all the way.

Common Projects grey suede sneakers

JCrew giant red turtleneck jumper

Mother jeans (how grateful am I to Melbourne Fashion Girl for introducing these to me!)

Marc Jacobs grey bag from the 1900s (I am bringing it back after Fearless Fi brought along her burgundy Marc Jacobs from the early 2000s last night)

Okay so that wasn't so hard after all... I guess I still really do love fashion

Céline wreaks havoc...

... on marriages everywhere by sending out a luxurious hard cover Christmas catalog. Jeez, how much did you spend there to get a book like this?

Hello, am I speaking to Céline? Yes, I wanted to let you know I have changed my name. Miffy Von Holzenschloss. Yes that's right. But yes please do send the book to the same address. Thank you so much!

Oh honey, look, it's not even for me. Must be a previous tenant.

If you are reading this Santa, this is not my final list!

An embroidered crew neck - or rather a jeweled collar that could go with any crew neck jumper

This bright white Chanel bag - I ask them about once a week "any white ones in?" No...

Anything from Prada circa 1994 - those sporty nylon pieces, the military coats, the boots...

A little house on the prairie beach...

A Sofia Coppola LV bag - I don't care which one - I'm a simple non-demanding groupie

David Yurman encrusted pinky signet ring
